Critical Volunteer Needs: 1)Crews of retirees committed to work one day a week. 2) House Leaders committed to complete a house. 3)Skilled Leaders committed to 1 area (like siding.)
Volunteers are the backbone of every Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Whether your talents are office-related, construction skills, or working and organizing with a group, Will County Habitat for Humanity has a volunteer spot waiting just for you! Follow the link of your choice, complete and return our volunteer survey, or call 815-666-8144. Volunteer slots are 3-hour shifts. The commitment is once a week. You can choose from opportunities to help raise funds or plan events, help select or assist homeowner families, as well as opportunities to create public relations materials. The commitment is an hour-long monthly meeting plus time required for committee action items. Skilled workers and handy volunteers are always in demand on the worksite. Willing workers can be taught construction tasks for the day. Volunteers are expected to follow all expectations of dress, including safety gear (hard hats, steel toed boots) that the work of the day requires. Volunteers should be prepared to bring common tools to the site and to pack a lunch and water. Volunteers are committing for a full workday: Saturdays from 8 AM to 3 PM. Weekdays: Tuesday through Friday 8 AM to 3 PM by arrangement.
